The holiday season is officially here, and I couldn't be more excited! 🎄
If you're looking for unique Christmas gifts in Milwaukee, hoping to support local artists, or just love wandering through a good holiday market with a warm drink in hand, I've got some fun things to share with you!
I'm Cayla, the artist behind Cayla the Painter, a Milwaukee-area watercolor art business specializing in custom portraits, sentimental keepsakes, and hand-painted gifts.
This holiday season, I'll be popping up at several Milwaukee and Chicagoland holiday markets, painting live watercolor portraits, selling hand-painted ornaments, and taking orders for personalized artwork.
Whether you're shopping for your family, your favorite pet parent, or someone who seems to have everything, I hope I can help you find a gift that feels a little more personal this year!
Unique Handmade Christmas Gifts in Milwaukee
There's something so special about giving someone a gift that was created just for them. Not something pulled off a shelf, but a little piece of art that celebrates a person, pet, place, or memory they love.
If you're looking for personalized Christmas gifts, here are a few of the handmade options I'm offering this holiday season.

Custom Watercolor Pet Portraits
Know someone who is absolutely obsessed with their dog or cat? (No judgment, I'm right there with them!)
A custom watercolor pet portrait is such a sweet way to celebrate a furry family member.
I create hand-painted pet portraits from your favorite photographs, capturing their unique features and personality through my illustrative watercolor and ink style.
These make wonderful Christmas gifts for dog moms, cat dads, pet lovers, and anyone who wants a little piece of their best friend to display at home.
Whether you're celebrating a new puppy, a longtime companion, or remembering a beloved pet, I'd love to help you create something meaningful.

Personalized Family & Couple Portraits
Some of my favorite gifts to create are portraits that celebrate the people we love.
From family watercolor paintings to custom couple portraits, these pieces are a beautiful way to turn a favorite photograph into something you can hold onto for years.
They're especially thoughtful for parents, grandparents, newlyweds, anniversaries, or anyone celebrating a special milestone.
Custom House & Home Portraits
A house is so much more than four walls. It's where memories are made!
My custom watercolor home portraits are designed to celebrate places that hold special meaning, whether that's a first home, a childhood house, a family home, or somewhere filled with wonderful memories.
These are especially meaningful gifts for new homeowners, parents, grandparents, and families celebrating the places they've called home.

Hand-Painted Christmas Ornaments
Looking for a smaller handmade Christmas gift or something special for your own tree?
I'll also be bringing hand-painted ornaments to my upcoming holiday markets!
These little pieces of artwork make wonderful stocking stuffers, holiday gifts, and keepsakes to bring out year after year.
And honestly, there's something so sweet about decorating your Christmas tree with ornaments that each have their own story.
15-Minute Watercolor Portraits
One of my favorite ways to create art is through my 15-minute portraits!
These are quick, illustrative watercolor paintings created from photographs. I begin with a hand-drawn ink sketch, add layers of watercolor, let the painting dry, and carefully package it for mailing.
They're loose, playful, and full of personality!
I can paint people, couples, families, and pets, making these a fun and personalized gift option.
You can order a portrait online or visit me at participating holiday markets to have one painted live.
