How Can Custom Art Be Incorporated Into Our Wedding Decor?

If you're looking at your wedding decor and thinking, "It's beautiful...but how do we make it feel more like us?" custom artwork might be the answer.

Custom art can be incorporated into wedding decor through hand-painted escort cards and favors, pet portraits, custom signage, bar menus, venue illustrations, stationery, and artwork inspired by the colors, places, pets, and little details that are meaningful to you.

And personally, I think this is where wedding decor gets really fun.

You don't necessarily need more decor.

You need details that tell a story.

As an artist, I love working with couples before their wedding to create artwork that can be woven throughout their celebration. And because the artwork is custom, we aren't limited to choosing something that already exists.

We can create it specifically for you.

Start With Something That Actually Means Something to You

When I'm creating custom wedding artwork, I don't want to start by asking:

"What's trending right now?"

I want to know:

What feels like you?

Maybe it's your dog.

Maybe it's the flowers you're carrying.

Maybe you're getting married somewhere near the water and lighthouses have become part of your wedding aesthetic.

Maybe you love traveling.

Maybe you have a favorite food.

Maybe you're getting married somewhere with a beautiful landscape.

Maybe your wedding colors remind you of a particular sunset.

Custom artwork gives us the freedom to take those ideas and turn them into details that belong specifically at your wedding.

My Favorite Wedding Decor Idea: Mini Paintings

This is something I would LOVE to create for more weddings.

My mini paintings are tiny original acrylic paintings, typically created on 2.5-by-2.5-inch canvases.

Yes, they're really paintings.

And yes, they're really tiny.

Each canvas is hand-painted to coordinate with the couple's wedding and has a magnet on the back so guests can take the artwork home and continue enjoying it after the celebration.

For the wedding pictured here, the celebration had a nautical feel, so one of the designs was a tiny lighthouse.

But that's just one example.

I've created minis inspired by:

Landscapes

Sunsets

Flowers

Food

Seagulls

Seasonal imagery

Locations

Wedding colors

Nature

Other details connected to the event

And honestly, the possibilities are pretty endless.

That's one of my favorite parts.

We're not choosing Design A, B, or C from a catalog.

We're creating a collection specifically for your wedding.

Turn Mini Paintings Into Escort Cards

Here's where these tiny paintings become more than decor.

Each mini painting can be displayed on its own little wooden easel and paired with a guest's name.

That means your mini painting display can double as your escort card display.

Guests find their name, discover which table they're sitting at, and receive a tiny original painting to take with them.

Instead of:

"Find your name and grab your card."

It becomes:

"Wait...we get to KEEP these?!"

That's the reaction I want.

And visually, dozens or even hundreds of tiny paintings displayed together create an art installation within your wedding.

It's functional.

It's decorative.

It's interactive.

And then, piece by piece, your guests take the artwork home.

Mini Paintings Can Become Place Settings, Too

You don't necessarily need to use the paintings as an escort-card display.

We can also incorporate them directly into your place settings.

Imagine walking into your reception and seeing a tiny easel and original painting waiting at every seat.

The mini can be paired with a guest's name card or incorporated alongside your other stationery.

Suddenly, something functional becomes part of the tablescape.

And this is one of my favorite approaches to wedding decor:

Make things do more than one job.

Instead of purchasing a place card, additional table decoration, and a wedding favor, your mini painting can become part of all three.

Your Wedding Favor Becomes Part of the Decor

Traditional wedding favors are usually something guests discover toward the end of the night.

Mini paintings are different because they can contribute visually to the wedding from the moment guests arrive.

A wall or table filled with little easels and paintings becomes part of the decor itself.

Then those paintings become escort cards.

Then they become table details.

And eventually, they become favors that leave the wedding with your guests.

I love that progression.

You're not spending money on an object that serves a purpose for five minutes.

You're commissioning original artwork that moves through the entire guest experience.

What Can We Have Painted on Mini Wedding Canvases?

This is usually where couples' imaginations start running.

Because the answer is:

A lot.

Your paintings can coordinate around one specific theme, or we can create a collection of related designs.

For a garden wedding, maybe we're painting different florals.

For a lake wedding, perhaps it's sunsets, sailboats, water, lighthouses, or other imagery connected to the location.

For a destination-inspired celebration, we might create tiny landscapes.

For a foodie couple, maybe the inspiration comes from food.

For an autumn wedding, perhaps we're pulling from the landscape and colors surrounding the venue.

And your paintings don't necessarily have to be identical.

In fact, part of the charm can be having a collection where guests look through the different custom artwork and find a painting they connect with.

Because each one is painted by hand, every little canvas has its own personality.

How Much Do Mini Painting Wedding Favors Cost?

For couples researching custom wedding favors, here's a helpful starting point.

My standard mini paintings are typically $14 per painting.

The small display easels can be added for $1.25 each.

For larger quantities, including orders of around 100 pieces or more, I can offer custom bulk pricing based on the quantity and project details.

Because every collection is custom, we'll talk about your guest count, wedding theme, design ideas, how you'd like the paintings displayed, and whether you'd like to incorporate escort or place cards.

From there, I can help determine what makes the most sense for your celebration.

Incorporate Your Pets Into Your Wedding Decor

Now, let's talk about one of my other favorite wedding-art opportunities.

Your pets.

If your dog or cat is basically your child, there's absolutely no reason they can't make an appearance in your wedding decor.

Even if they're spending the wedding day comfortably at home.

I create custom pet portraits, dog portraits, cat portraits, and hand-painted pet art that can then inspire other elements of your wedding.

One of the most popular places to incorporate pet artwork is the bar.

Imagine a custom painting of your dog beside your signature cocktail.

Or your cat appearing on a bar menu.

Your guests immediately recognize them, and suddenly something functional feels incredibly personal.

And after the wedding, you still have the original artwork.

One Painting Can Inspire Multiple Wedding Details

This is something couples don't always realize when they first inquire about custom art.

We don't necessarily have to create a separate original painting for every single piece of decor.

We can start with one original piece.

For example, I could paint your dog.

Once that artwork is professionally digitized, there are opportunities to incorporate the illustration into different pieces of your wedding stationery and signage.

Your original dog portrait might inspire your:

Bar menu.

Cocktail sign.

Table signage.

Wedding stationery.

Thank-you cards.

Or another custom element.

One piece of personalized art can help create a visual thread throughout your wedding.

And importantly, once the wedding is over, you're still left with the original painting.

Turn Meaningful Places Into Wedding Artwork

Pets aren't the only part of your story that can become decor.

Places can, too.

Your venue.

Your childhood home.

Your first home together.

The place where you got engaged.

A meaningful family property.

Or simply a piece of architecture that's important to your story.

I create home portrait art, custom house paintings, and architectural art, and those illustrations can offer another way to make your wedding decor feel deeply personal.

A venue painting, for example, could become part of your stationery or signage and then transition into artwork for your home after the wedding.

That's one of the biggest advantages of creating wedding decor around original art.

The artwork doesn't have to stop mattering when the wedding ends.

Custom Artwork Can Make Your Wedding Feel Like Your Wedding

This is really the heart of it for me.

Wedding decor can be beautiful without being personal.

You can choose gorgeous flowers, beautiful linens, candles, table settings, and signage and create an absolutely stunning room.

But those little personal details are often what make guests stop and say:

"Oh my gosh, this is so them."

That's what custom art can add.

Your pet suddenly appears on the bar.

Your favorite place becomes an illustration.

Your guests walk into the reception and find hundreds of tiny paintings waiting for them.

Your venue becomes artwork.

A detail from your relationship becomes part of the tablescape.

These things aren't meaningful because they're trendy.

They're meaningful because they're yours.

And After the Wedding, The Art Comes Home With You

This might be my favorite part.

So much wedding decor exists for one day.

Original artwork doesn't have to.

Your pet painting can come home and be framed.

Your venue illustration can hang on your wall.

Your guests can stick their tiny magnetic paintings on their refrigerators, display them on their little easels, or incorporate them into their homes.

Months later, your friend might notice that tiny canvas on her refrigerator and think:

"Oh, that's from their wedding."

Years later, you might walk past your dog's original portrait and remember that his little face was on the bar menu.

The artwork has a life after the wedding.

And for sentimental couples, I think that matters.

Let's Create Wedding Decor You Couldn't Find on Pinterest

If you're someone who has spent hours saving wedding inspiration but still feels like something is missing, maybe what you're looking for isn't another idea to copy.

Maybe you're looking for something that hasn't been created yet.

That's where I come in.

Tell me about your wedding.

Tell me about your pets.

Your venue.

Your colors.

The places you love.

The little details you're obsessed with.

The inside jokes your friends would immediately recognize.

The things that make the two of you you.

Whether we're creating one commissioned painting, a custom pet portrait, wedding stationery, or 150 tiny canvases for every person you love, we can start with your story and create something specifically for it.

Because your wedding decor doesn't just have to look beautiful.

It can mean something, too.
